Sorry mate, here we go!

31/3/12

Squat
60kg x 5
80kg x 5
100kg x 5
120kg x 5
140kg x 3
160kg x 1
180kg x 1
200kg x 1
200kg x 1

Bench
60kg x 5
80kg x 5
100kg x 5
120kg x 3
140kg x 1 (2 second pause)
155kg x 1 (2 second pause)Felt pretty easy
162.5kg x Fail (couldn't lock out today - never mind!)

1/4/12

Deadlift
60kg x 5
100kg x 5
140kg x 5
180kg x 3
225kg x 1
255kg x 1
275kg x FAIL (would have been PB. Got it off the floor this time!)
250kg x 4

Quite pleased with deadlifts as I never seem to lift as much in the garage as I do in the gym. Technique was OK for first rep at 250kg then I forgot to bend my legs for some reason!

Vid of 275kg fail and last set at 250kg:

Cheers mate. I'm just in my 3rd year after 18 yrs as an 800m runner. I think the qualifying total for the GBPF Unequipped champs is about 480 so if your around that in your first comp that's awsome! Low 500s would prob give you a medal at the British!

cool beans mate i used to be a sprinter for years 200m and hurdles noticed theres only about 4-5 guys across feds that have totaled over 600kg @u75 in the country and your one of em so i figure that kind of makes you the man in the know any training advice would be greatly recived esp squatting i be s**te @ squats

No worries mate. Not sure I'm best qualified to give training advice tho as mine is really basic. Sets of 5 works for me when trying to build strength.

Hi Paul
I've been meaning to pop in since I saw you'd started a journal.
Training looks like it's going as well as expected, good stuff mate.
I don't think I'll be doing the Doncaster comp this year as it's at the wrong time for me.
It's a shame you don't have more competition in the GBPF, I can only think of Mark Fleming in the BDFPA as a 75 kg lifter who would be of the same standard.

Say hello to Phil for me.

Regards

Les.

Cheers Les. I've seen some of the BDFPF results and there are some fantastic lifters. My long term goal is to to hopefully be competitive on the international scene (starting with the Classic in June) & I think the IPF still offers the highest standard of international competition.

Hope to catch up with You at some point over the next few months!

Cheers mate. Like I said I keep it really simple for a number of reasons really. Firstly, I competed at a decent level in athletics for years and trained twice a day. I'm not prepared for powerlifting to take over my life like athletics used to. Secondly, I've got a really busy job and young family and would rather spend the majority of my time with them. Also, i reckon I'd get injured if I did loads of assistance.

Haha, I'm feeling stronger every time I do them! My quads are the weak area on my squat so hopefully there will be some transfer!
