Lost his pen, then found his pen. #phew Member 4899, 2956 posts | Post Edited: 14.04.2016 @ 20:33 PM by ChrisMcCarthy Some great lifting been going on all week, but great to see Zoe Smith get a snatch Bronze yesterday and Rebekah Tiler get three Bronzes today (99 / 123 = 222).Tiler was some way off Gold and Silver (15 & 14kg, overall) but, after a couple of slightly below-par performances, it was great to see her in at the sharp end. EDIT: Smith got a Bronze in the Clean & Jerk NOT the Snatch - my tortured brain.  She went 96 / 119 = 215. | ||

The big question will be who gets the spot for Rio!!! Also, nice to see BWL sending a full team (7 men, 7 women), mainly motivated by the need to score points for Olympic places no doubt, but good to see none the less. | ||

Smith has been the poster girl for BWL for a number of years, and is current Commonwealth Games champion, although Tiler's recent honours probably put her on a par. I wonder if the fact that Rebekah should be around for a good number of years yet, may result in them going with Smith as a mark of gratitude for what she has done over the last few years. She is seems to continually struggle with injuries and this could be her last shout at an Olympics. Both of them deserve to go, shame one of them is likely to miss out. | ||

I'm not expecting his best this close to the Olympics but he could do something a little bit special. I certainly believe he has a very real crack at the Snatch record over the next couple of years if healthy. | ||

I would guess these are the best results at a major championships since the early days of women's lifting. How come the GB women have so few places when they're all medalling at the Europeans? | ||

There's a clip on Hookgrip of him working up through a Clean & Jerk session in the training hall where he hits just about the most comfortable 220 I may have ever seen. | ||
