After not training or competing much for most of this year I have managed to get back into a decent run of training and am aiming for the Scotland's Strongest Man Qualifier in March and possibly the 105s depending on when it is and if I can get time off work for it.

Decided I might as well start logging my training again to keep track of what I am doing.

Wednesday 3 December

Squat

180kg x 3 sets of 5
160kg x 2 sets of 8

Deadlift

200kg x 3 sets of 5

2" Deficit Deadlift

160kg x 2 sets of 10

Friday 5 December

Axle

110kg x 3 sets of 3

Monster DB

Left arm - 50kg x a set of 5 and a set of 4
Right arm - 50kg x 8 and 65kg x 2 sets of 3

Farmers and Sled Drag (15m each)

130kg farmers and 160kg sled x 2 runs through and a couple of extra runs with just the sled as I am shut at drags.

Stones to 54" barrel

135kg x a few

Monday 8 December

Strict Log

75kg x 5 sets of 5

Incline Log

95kg x 3 sets of 3

Chins

Bodyweight x 3 sets of 5

Band pushdowns

Heavy band x 4 sets of 10

Finished with some lateral raises and curls.

Solid enough session, although it was hard going and think I might have frostbite in a few of my toes now.

120kg x 1

Incline Log

90kg x 4 sets of 4

Dumbell (right arm only as my left shoulder has a bit of a niggle)

50Kg x 2 sets of 8
65kg x 2 sets of 3

Various other pressing assistance stuff that is barely worth even logging.

Had intended to do some farmers and keg loading too but the ice outside was too bad and it would have been pretty dangerous so gave it a miss. Decent enough session.

Training with ben up at the farm neil. Although we won't be training tpgether too much over thhe next few months as he is away to the states, then i am away then he is working in belfast for a cpuple of months. Good to have someone to train with for a change though.

Strict log

86Kg x 1 just for fun

Incline log

86kg x 5
96kg x 3 sets of 3

Lat Pulldowns

Heavy band in each hand x 3 sets of 10

Chins

Bodyweight x 3 sets of 5

Tricep pushdowns

Heavy band x 3 sets of 10

finished off with some higher rep lateral raises and curls. A fairly steady session despite feeling a bit flat due to not gett8ng my breakfast before hand.

well your back in the Iron game so keep at it loon and when your both about its good to have someone to push you a little harder. so good luck we the SSM qual 2015 run up

Yeah it is good having someone to push you on. Looking forward to the qualifier as i think it is a fairly decent set of events for me, the standard is always getting better though so will need to put in some serious work to have any hope of qualifying.

Saturday 20 december

Missed a couple of sessions this week due to work so todays session ended up being a bit of a mish-mash of different things.

Deadlift

200Kg x 5
220kg x 3 sets of 3
240kg x 1

Suit on

260Kg x 3
270kg x 1, my form was pretty ropey on the suited pulls but i think i am just a bit out of practice with the suit.

Axle

110Kg x 3
115kg x 3 sets of 2, my form on the jerks is a bit sloppy due to lack of practice and it is becoming more of a jerk press, managing to press them out though which i never used to be able to do.

Dumbell

Right arm

50Kg x 2 sets of 8

left arm

2 Sets of 5

A decent session i suppose. Should manage to get back on track next week.

Still pretty pitiful strict press numbers but improving steadily. Not a bad session.

Solid session today, looking at it written down it doesn't seem like much but I was absolutely burst by the end and my hamstrings and lower back were gubbed.

Missed a few days of training as I was suffering with various knocks and scrapes after some idiot decided he wanted to fight with me while I was working on hogmanay.

Monday 5 January

Strict Log

80kg x 2 sets of 4 and 2 sets of 3, these felt heavy today, hence the missed reps. Also tweaked my lower back a bit aggravating it after hurting it playing rugby a few months back.

Log (push press)

90kg x 3 sets of 5

Incline Log

90kg x 2 sets of 5, lower back was cramping so dropped my last set.

Finished off with some db lateral raises and chins.

A fairly ordinary session today and a tad frustrating that my lower back keeps niggling away. Got a decent bit of work in though.
