Member 1307, 14110 posts SQ 355, BP 240, DL 370965.0 kgs @ 102kgs UnEq | Post Edited: 28.03.2013 @ 18:30 PM by shanejer 2013 Northern England’s Strongest Man u105kgSponsored By: Met-rx www.hylete.com Olympic Sports Gym Rock nutrition Fat gripz Qualifying event for England's Strongest Man u105kg Date: 14th April 2013 Venue: Salt Ayre Sports Centre, Lancaster, LA1 5JS (in sports hall) Spectators welcome: £3 adults & £1 children Weigh-in: Saturday 13th 11am - 7pm & Sunday 14th 8am - 10.30am Entry fee: £25 (includes competition t-shirt from VikingR) Trophies and prizes for top three & Strongman's Strongman award (as voted for by the competitors) A big thank you to Mark Clegg for all he does in the strongman community and for continued sponsorship of most strongman events. Great man! Event 1; The Dragon's Medley (90 seconds) - the only event not head 2 head 170kg Northern cross to be carried 20m, once complete a 300kg tyre is to be flipped 20m (we will work out how many flips this is and just make it e.g 7 flips) then a 125kg barrel to be carried the final 20m, you can drop the barrel and cross as many times as you want in the time limit and re-attempt the carry, there is a 90 second time limit, will be scored on time finished or overall distance covered. Event 2; 310kg yoke 20m drop turn 20m (75 seconds) On time keepers signal yoke to be carried 20m and to break the line at the first 20m, then on the return the whole yoke must cross the line, again scored on time completed or distance. Event 3; 110kg log, 115kg axle, 64kg StrengthShop Dumbell (90 seconds) As many reps as possible, athlete starts hands on the log, once the down signal is given (log stable, head through and feet in line) you will move onto the axle, when down signal is given onto the dumbell, and repeat, most reps wins. Any lift not lowered under control a "no lift" will be given. Items must be lifted in order. Break for 30 minutes Event 4; Max squat (knee wraps and 1 pair sleeves only) During the break we will split athletes into two groups, there will be 2 bars loaded to 200kg, this event will be done 2 at at time, so there will be "4" referees, referees shall alternate sides so scoreing is "fair" the squat will be rising bar, each athlete gets 3 lifts, if you fail you can lift again (but may end up following yourself) the bar will rise 10kg a time Event 5; VikingR frame race 40m (75 seconds) weight subject to testing Athlete starts hands on, on time keepers signal must make the 20m course and turn around a cone and the whole frame must cross the line on the return. This event is "subject to change" in the fact we may make it drop and turn if we do no use the full hall and only half. Scored on distance and time completed again. Event 6; Loading (75 seconds) TBC... I am hoping to source some "odd objects" which we can put head to head, if this is the case NO ONE will know the items till the day. If i am unable to do this it will be a standard stone run up to 175kg. Thank you again to Mark clegg and to all those that have already messaged and offered there help, whether it be through sponsorship or helping on the day. We will provide the athletes and helpers with VikingR T-shirts, water, energy drinks, bananas etc to help everyone get through the day! And if things go to plan there will be prize money/extra prizes but this is TBC also. Also to clear up price being £25, Ben usually runs this @ £20 and barely breaks even, he wasn't going to run this comp but its my favourite of the year and SA is a great venue with good kit but I just can't afford to chance being out of pocket for this so I apolagise but the hall + insurance alone is £550 so hopefully you understand and would rather pay a tad more than have it in a car park in the cold and rain etc!
