Thanks, I am probably the strongest there - there are some other guys here with the potential to be as strong as / stronger than me but they're not very consistent with their training.

I'm also completely injury free for the first time in decades! If I can stay this way and life doesn't get too complicated Wink will be interesting to see what I can really lift.

Deffo agree that the bench probably dropped a little too quick but this does work or some folk. I can't drop fast; heavy bench I have to take it down under control and pause it or I lose my line etc...

I think if you would of got a handout on the bench you would of fully locked it out as you already did the final portion of the lift taking it out of the rack.

Very powerfull of the chest though mate

Do you compete? Looks like you'd do pretty well at u105 strongman given your static numbers !

Yeah I've always been a bit of a dive bomber - though not usually as bad as yesterday. The weight felt a bit heavy when I unracked it and that probably made me rush it a bit.

Thanks. Agreed about lift offs - I've always lifted the weight off myself in the past since a bad lift off is usually worse than no lift off. There are enough competent spotters in this gym - but they aren't always around when you need them, especially on weekends when the gym is sometimes like a ghost town - with me being the only living being around!

Still after seeing that Iranian Paralympian lift off 300kg himself and nail the weight I can't really be complaining about 180!

I don't compete. I think I'd be too short for strongman and I don't think the body would cope with carrying large objects in addition to the gym work!

I'm 41 and a natural lifter and still got all my hair and most of my marbles and would like to stay that way Wink

once again brutaly strong lifting I dont even think i could unrack 170 without a spotter let alone 185

where is this gym it looks like it has some very nice kit if you fancy having a go at a comp you should have ago at an unequipped gbpf comp you would do very well from what I have seen so far

Cheers mate - I have done 190 before and unracked it myself but on this bench I think that would be tough as the uprights, although adjustable, aren't quite the right height for me and the bench is a bit high too.

It's Physical Culture Gym in Putney - IMHO the best equipped gym for strength training in London. The atmosphere is great and the owner is always trying to get more equipment and is a very lifter friendly place for powerlifting, oly lifting, strongman or even crossfit.

I've never competed - not really interested - but who knows maybe one day! Wink
