Yesterday's training:

Bench

3 x 50
2 x 60
2 x 70
1 x 80
1 x 90
1 x 95
1 x 100kg (Failed 2nd rep)
3 x 3 @70kg

Not too happy with the bench, it was feeling heavy going up the weights so widened my grip... 20:20 hindsight, should have stuck to my trained width and got the second rep anyway.

Assistance

Was told to just do whatever assistance I wanted to take a break from the routine so I did:

BB Rows
BB OHP
Face Pulls
Chins
Cable Rows
Bicep Curls
DB Sot Press

Did all that in 25 minutes, didn't look at weights and just looked to get a good pump/fatigue in the muscles. Was a nice mental break and left quite refreshed.

Next cycle will have more volume and work on the weaknesses in each lift.

Last night's session:

Next 6 week cycle has been laid out with a Push/Pull at the end to test my switch to conventional deadlift. This 6 weeks will include volume paused squats and lots of SLDL. More volume overall.

Paused Squats

3 x 60kg
3 x 80kg
5 x 100kg
5 x 110kg
5 x 115kg
5 x 155kg
5 x 110kg
5 x 110kg

Felt sick afterwards.

DE Deadlifts

10 x 2 @100kg

Felt good, got in the groove.

SLDL

3 x 100kg
3 x 120kg
3 x 130kg

Not been logging as rather busy at the moment but training has been spot on. Joined a new gym full of strongman equipment and calibrated plates as well as good bars (finally!).

So below is my second cycle so far towards competition in June/July:

Noteworthy points being my deadlift is looking sweet at the moment and 142.5kg sets on Saturday were a lot better than they ever have been in conventional and I'm looking at a good number for the March Push/Pull.

Also I took up my first BJJ lesson Saturday evening which was great fun, going back again for sure and 2 days on my feet are feeling the DOMS from it (dunno why!).

Paused Squats: 3x120kg, 3x125kg, 3x125kg

Nose bleed on second set, not on the video as I managed to contain it mid-lift. Stuck tissue up my nose for set 3.

Speed Deadlift: 8x2 @100kg +22kg Chains

Love it, great fun and looked faster than it felt. The movement on the chains is a killer.

Deficit Deadlift: 5x120kg, 5x130kg

Done.

Speed Bench

8 x 2 @70kg

Felt good, was meant to do 65kg but working in with someone who was also working at 70kg

1 Board Bench

3 x 80kg
3 x 90kg
3 x 93kg

Very happy with these.

CGBP (Slow Negatives)

3 x 12 @40kg

I don't like these, they hurt and not helped by my training partner making me laugh on the second set Unhappy

Not been training very well, injured my glute leading up to a competition and got a 102.5kg PB on the Bench Press during it... Dropping out on my second deadlift attempt from pain.

Since then been ill and injured still so training has gone out the window. Able to bench and rack pull so we're going to start working on that! Going on holiday in 3 weeks so hoping the time off will fix it all.
