Good session in a new gym. Weights were popping off my back so plenty of explosive power being developed through the rep ranges in my squat. Feeling the benefit of my coaching session with John Clark at Fit3Sixty and I highly recommend his services to everyone.

Deadlifts felt grim with hex plates but it's a small price to pay for a different environment and it probably won't be forever.

Good session. Wanted to hit 6 reps on the press but not to be. Saved something for tonight's heavy deadlift session.

Benching is going well enough in that I have no shoulder pain from it so keeping going. Cardio perhaps needs some work. No idea where to add it in as it feels like quite a full on session by the time I'm done. Might do some rowing or something on my days off but, again, I need time at home with my wife so might have to just get s**t done.

Return of the best training log on Sugden Grin Grin Grin

Took a couple of months out due to hernia surgery which was always going to come around at some point. That was June.

Since coming back I've hit a 300kg deadlift on a s**t bar, 140kg overhead for 3 reps, squatted 265kg and actually started benching.

Comp in 4 weeks at Black Country;s Strongest Man Opens. Then keep on training until I'm ready for a crack at a national qualifier. Hernia is repaired nicely so no reason I can't push on now.

Goals for 2017

Squat 300kg
Deadlift 350kg
Push Press 180kg
Log Press 160kg

Pretty much it really. All events like yoke, stones etc will be planned in but have no real goals other than to keep progressing on those as best as I can.

Second place in comp out of 3 entering. So the game was to push Marcin Braun as hard as poss and set PBs on every event.

I did all of that apart from the deadlift which is still my weakest event. But I'll fix that.

140kg log PB, 142kg stone for 5 reps, 140kg farmers 20m, 290kg deadlift... all PBs. Did what I said I would. One rep off the stone, a few seconds off the farmers, 50 kg off the deadlift and 10kg off the log. Did my best which is all I can ever do.

Time to set up training now for the next phase.
