Jo Whitely of GBPF NW took a bronze in her class as well.

What did Tom Martin total?

Sounds like a good comp. The class delroy McQueen was in sounds very impressive, 3 900kg+ totals.
» Slingshot/Compression Cuff Reviews (Go to post)03-06-2015 @ 12:37

Are the compression cuffs as good as people make out, and is the slingshot a good way of increasing bench overload for the raw lifter?

I have a bit of elbow tendinosis from low bar squatting which i am addressing the cause of but if these could help alleviate it short term then i may purchase one of the cuffs. But i dont want the cuff to aid my lifting like a tight elbow sleeve. And if i did order one then i may get a slingshot too if its worthwhile to prevent me from making a possible 2 separate orders and paying for postage twice in the future lol.

Also, the hip circles, are they just fancy resistance bands?

cheers.

I bought a Hip Circle, there is a UK supplier which sells them for about £20 plus P&P so pretty cheap really. Can't say it has put kg on my squat or anything like that but it feels like a really good warm up for the hips/glutes. I think for someone who needs to fit in very short workouts some time or travel a lot and cant get to the gym it would be useful as part of a workout doing some BW squats.

I suppose there are a lot of potential ways to solve the problem, not sure the best way to do it, but what a problem! I think those involved in running and promoting GBPF NW deserve enormous credit.

It was two days last year, might have to run a full week comp at this rate Bryn!

Clearly puts more thought into his lifts than 99% of lifters. Probably why he squatted 400kg in knee wraps and a belt!
» Bench only - any shame in it? (Go to post)02-04-2015 @ 13:27
While it would be daft to by a cyclist and call yourself a triathelete it wouldn't be shameful to call yourself a cyclist.

Similarly if you want to do bench only then go for it! Live and let lift!

I have entered this one. First comp of the year.

Never get stuff like that in any other strength sport. No really you don't...

Sadly not but I like the look of the heavy duty squat stands on strengthshop.

Garden is a no go, its very small and the ground is covered in shale so I would have to completely change that.

I wasn't thinking of casually dropping my deadlift at the top. I was thinking of if my grip failed and I dropped it accidentally or alternatively as Boar says put it down in a less gentlemanly way than Pete.

There isn't enough clearance to do overhead work but I don't do that anyway.

Anybody reckon there might be issues in terms of deadlifting? Of course I would put some sort of platform in but if I dropped say a 240kg deadlift that might cause some shaking to the floor, even with a platform.

Bim said:This is a setup I've got with the Heavy Duty Squat Stands and the Strength Shop Flat Bench. I quite like it, the only issue I have is that when I have to lift off heavy weights myself, clearing the low safety pins that you can dump it on to can be hard, I actually clip them in this video. If you have a spotter then no problems at all.

Are the safety pins adjustable?
