I hit a pb today with a chest infection
Member 3283, 1921 posts
I train at 8 ish on a night and get in from work at about 5.45. Whens best to have my tea? If I have it before I'm bloated and shattered and it's too easy to leave the gym. If I left it til after training I like an hour before eating a big meal so it'd end up been 10pm and as I get up at half 5 I don't want to eat that late and then sleep on a full stomach. What's best to do? I want to stay fairly bloat free before training but don't want a massive meal late either. Just small stuff either side of training all together? I don't want to not eat enough either if you know what I mean. Any suggestions would be great cheers

I always have some nuts on the way home anyway, thinking maybe just some toast before gym then whatever I can when I come back, pint of full fat milk/cheese on toast etc

Bit of a tricky one, I used to hate working out late for this exact reason.

Can you not gullet pound a post workout shake immediately after to get a big protein and carb hit and then just have a snack at home?

If you feel your missing out on your evening meal just eat more throughout the day?

Edit:

This would be a good idea, eat something light before, pound a post workout shake or a litre of chocolate milk in my case and then eat something light at home. Prevents bloat, gets the calories in, isn't detrimental to workout or sleep.

Just eat afterwards - I finished training at 21:45, had my post workout shake at 22:00 and ate my tea at 22:45.

I'll be inhaling doughnuts and bakewell tarts from 23:30 until 00:00 when I go to bed.

Carb crash = sleepy time Happy

Lol. I couldn't eat like that that time of night, and definitely couldn't be eating proper meals like roast dinners etc at 10.45 lol. Cheers mate

A blended shake with oats, dates/banana,some berries and maybe some nut butter and protein powder should give you
the energy without feeling bloated.
