Member 1110, 414 posts SQ 300, BP 180, DL 320800.0 kgs @ 105kgs UnEq | Post Edited: 11.06.2014 @ 07:58 AM by Forby My write up for Englands Strongest Man Under 105kg One week out body weight was 115.5 so new it was going to be a struggle to weigh in . Friday night spent 3 hours at the sauna, dropping from 111.5 to 107.5. Saturday morning weighed in at 106.0 so thought it was going to be comfortable once I got to Salt Ayre but on arrival weighed 107.7. Had to spend another 3 hours at the sauna to get down to 105.0 but naked. Over the night consumed over 1000g carbs mainly from maltadextrin. Competition morning weighted 113. Before the competition started I felt drained and tired, spent the morning getting syked up with head phones on. SQUAT I new this was going to be a good event for me, training had went very well. I was 5th so new I needed to set a decent number before the other lads went, managed 10reps, this held and John managed 7. KEG TOSS I had been to Lancaster to train this once, which I managed the 5th keg at a higher hight. I new Ryan would get all 6, so needed a fast 5 to get decent points. Just missed the 6th one twice but was happy with how it went Joint 2nd. MOVING This was the event which I was most concerned about after tearing my calluses in the qualifier. Hands were healed and it was my turn against John. Grip felt extra strong and managed to come just behind John which I was very happy with as it was my worst event. 5th place. MAXLE 20min break and was ready to go again. I new Ryan was going to hit a big number. 150 went up peice of cake. Cleaned the 155 to my belly and wrist was hurting so took abit of care to get it up. The press felt nearly at full effort. Ryan got 155 and attempted the new record and missed, I gave it a miss as didn't want to get hurt. Maybe should have attempted it but glad I didn't now. Joint 1st. DEADLIFT I was last up so new that I would have a clear indication of what was needed. Ryan made a mistake on the first lift which cost him alot of time, a fast 3 would give me a win as no one lifted the 325. Lifted the first 2 without straps and quickly got straped up for the 300 and it went up easy. New I had won the event but gave the 325 a quick tug but never budged a inch. First LOADING At this point I was 1 point in the lead. Again I would be last so I new I would no what was needed. Ryan did 3 implements in 39seconds which I was confident to beat. The event started and the first 3 felt like paper, managed them in 29seconds. Thought I would attempt the last keg to finish in style but it was just to big for me on the day. First Overwhelmed with winning as my aim was just to qualify for Brits. Couldn't be happier with how it went. All of the lads were a class act and would of been happy to place behind any of them. It was just my day other events John, Mark, Ryan, or Will could have took it. Northern Top 3 was the iceing on the cake. I will do Brits, Europes and Worlds then after a break have a crack at Opens. Have to thank Ben for the running of another great competition, a class act as always, the spotters that helped on the day as it wouldn't go ahead without them. Thanks again Forby. | ||
