New one on me. I would, after all, be inclined to remember that one.

Wednesday, 22nd November, start 16:00

Quite warm tonight, probably because of the rain of which there is plenty

Death by
60 x 23
Grim tonight, much grunting and sweating, 23 was always on, but 24 looks quite some distance away. Then again, I have thought that before

Bench, very raw
20 x 12
20 x 12
20 x 12
40 x 5
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 3
80 x 3
90 x 2
100 x 2
110 x 1
120 x 1
125 x 1
130 x 1
135 x 1
All the singles were paused and all would have got three whites in a comp, the 130 was as fast as the 110 but the 135 slowed considerably. I doubted that there was another on there, I may have been able to repeat it but I couldn't have gone higher. So finish on a good lift, the 130 was as good a lift as I have done for a while

Close grip
60 x 8
70 x 8
80 x 8
90 x 8
That's enough of that

I am toying with the idea of alternating between singles and threes rather than threes and fives. I need to get used to the heavier weights and I do think that it would make rather a pleasant change

Day off today as someone is coming to fit smart meters to the house.

Business as usual tonight.

It's been a while since you knocked on the 300lb door iirc, so this is rather pleasing.

Smart meter humans never showed up. They texted me after three o clock to say that they were coming so I have wasted a day off.

Had quite an enjoyable rant at the guy on the end of the phone as to this and will be compensated with the hugely inadequate amount of thirty quid, and smart meter day is put off until the new year.

Some gibberish about a system breakdown being responsible, it's normally a very good system he assured me and it works very well almost all of the time. He seemed surprised that I didn't didn't give two hoots about that, I only cared about how it worked on the day I used it. So for me I needed it once and it failed me once, so 100% failure rate. He got it in the end though

Tonight goes ahead as planed thoughHappy Happy Happy Happy Happy

Very, as my bodyweight varies between 135 and 140, a 140 bench is essential. But it's getting closer

Wandered up to a local cafe for some nosebag earlier, I was stopped twice on the way up and thrice on the way back by people I knew for a chat. And I didn't mind any of it, in fact I rather enjoyed it. I have now officially become my father.

Cold, as cold as a blonde's heart tonight.

Squat, boots and sleeves on
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
60 x 5
belt on
100 x 3
120 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
140 x 3
All deeply deep but the knees grumbled a bit, and there were a few clicks and bangs but they caused no discomfort

Deadlift
60 x 3
60 x 3
100 x 3
120 x 3
140 x 3
160 x 3
180 x 3
All smooth as I would like and nothing too difficult, big deadlifts on Monday so just the one set at 180 tonight

Top inch leg extensions for knee tracking purposes
10 x 8
10 x 8
10 x 8
10 x 8
10 x 8
There is talk of snow in Horwich and in Blackburn and Burnley also. But apart from Tess's back window (she parks in Horwich) I saw nothing, which is good as I f**king hate snow with a black, raw hatred that consumes me. Quiet weekend planned, hopefully my last one as a regular gambler. I'll keep you posted

My last pre-workout post told of me going for some dinner and being stopped by five people for a chat. This is a tale of person number five

First some background

Most Saturdays I slope off to a local bakery to purchase some pasties, pies and occasional cake for breakfast. Their pies cost around the £1-40 to £1-50 mark depending on the content.

Last week local radio ran a "price of football" feature which said that the dearest pies were Manchester City's at £4-00 and the cheapest were Rochdale's at £2-80, so the cheapest football pie is chuffin' expensive. They also mentioned that a cup of tea at Chelsea was £1-29 and no-one could figure out why they didn't just make it £1-30 and save pissing about with endless pennies.

I mentioned these things to the girl serving in the bakery and she latched onto the penny change immediately.
"It's 5ps with us" she told me, We have loads of things that end in five and we get through shedloads of 5ps accordingly. There aren't enough 5ps in the world for us, they are like gold dust"

Now bloke number five is a drinking man and he boozes in a pub where they charge £1-95 a pint so he accumulate more 5ps than most. He tips all his change into a jar and every so often he bags it and takes it to the bank to change it into notes. If fact he was on his way there now.

Ever the helpful chap and seeing as I would be going to the 5p-starved bakery tomorrow morning I asked him if he had any.
"I do" he replied "ten pounds worth"
I asked him therefore to give them to me and I would happily exchange them for a shiny, new, plastic ten pound note.
He refused
"No seriously" I said "I'll take them off you"
Again he refused and would not say why.

I am still struggling to believe that. What the f**k was his objection ?

Sunday, 26th November, start 12:25

Turner and Glynn (both powerlifters) were present

Mac, Caitlin and Tessa (all weightlifters) were absent

Even Joe the Terrible rolled in to the shock and surprise of us all

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
all paused now
100 x 2
100 x 2
100 x 2
100 x 2
100 x 2
100 x 2
All pretty good and snappy, just upped in on a whim

Turner and Glynn disappeared into a cold and wet afternoon, Joseph and I adjourned to the pub, my particular favourites were not on the favourite board today so I sought advice from the friendly barkeep.
"The Hunter's chicken is good" she informed me

This was chicken (no surprise there) wrapped in bacon, with a barbecue sauce and covered in cheese !!!!!!!
Cheese ! I phuckin' ask you. As luck would have it the cheese was unmelted and could therefore be scraped off. But how the hell do you get cheese into a Hunter's chicken ?

Is cheese hunted ? Do we lay traps ? Shoot it ? Put down poison ? How does one hunt cheese ? If any of my gentle readers know, I would be grateful for that knowledge.

Then off to r kid's. The old bugger has retired now and I see far less of him. He is enjoying his retirement and played the old "I don't know how I found time to work" card.
Roast lamb, cabbage, carrots, peas, roast spuds and mint sauce, followed by cherry and blueberry pie and custard followed by what remained of the pie and what was left of the custard. No cheese.

Mrs Macca cooked chilli con carne for tonight's tea and do you know what I topped it with?

That's right, cheese. Extra mature cheddar cheese of the grated variety to be exact.

Very nice it was too

Not a fan of chilli even without cheese, and if you wish to eat said meal with lashings of cheese then far be for me to try to persuade you otherwise. As long as you don't advertise it as "chilli con carne" and then serve it with cheese I hold no objections. But as "con carne" simply means "with meat" there is no reason for your average cheese-hater to suspect that it would contain the vilest food known to man.

Did Mrs Macca do the same or was hers sans cheese ?

There will be some disruption to training this week as Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday are when the new floor will be laid. Monday and Friday should be as normal but Wednesday could be a write-off especially as I have been roped in to help.

There is an enormous amount of heavy s**t to be moved and then returned to where it came from. I am not looking forward to thisUnhappy
