Our sponsors at Protein Dynamix (some of you may recognise them from their sponsorship of Eddie Hall) have generously agreed to run a competition with us that is dead easy to enter, and will hopefully generate a really good thread.

How to Enter
All you have to do is tell us about your favourite lift ever (please include a YouTube video where possible) and in 3 weeks time (Monday 23rd Nov) we'll pick three winners.

We're not looking for the 'biggest' lift ever (though that won't do any harm), but after inspirational stories - maybe it was a landmark lift you'd spent years working towards, or it was a lift that helped you win a competition. It doesn't matter if it was done in training or in competition.

Prizes
1st Prize: Tub of Dynamo Pre-Workout, Box of Dynabars, Shaker & T-Shirt
2nd: Box of Dynabars & T-Shirt
3rd: Box of Dynabars & T-Shirt

My story (although I'm excluded from the draw!).

182.5kg/400lb Squat, April 2007, Adlington

My 400lb squat felt like a real milestone at the time, and is the lift I'll always be most proud of.

I'd started training with the guys at Sugden (mainly Olly, Joni, Rick and Adam - and sometimes Jo, Haris and Tokar) the summer before, after training by myself for a few years beforehand and making very little progress. I progressed fairly rapidly from where I started, both in terms of lifts and bodyweight, bulking up from 80kg to around 107kg at the time of the lift.

With my first competition looming (the BWLA North West Unequipped) I then started training at Adlington Barbell where I met many fine fellows including Little_a, FatPete (or was it FitPete?) and Wigan. With advice from legendary coach Alan Fairclough and encouragement from my (brilliant) training partner Boar I managed to push my squat on pretty quickly and smashed through my old PBs week on week - when I squatted the 400lber I'd never been above 160kg so it really was a big PB for me. I managed to get into a really good zone for the lift, far more so than any other lift I did before or after.

Aside from the 400lb squat being one of the most obvious milestones for any lifter (not many blokes in the average gym would ever come close to it, although we are used to much bigger due to the many beasts on Sugden), it also meant a lot because it took me past Olly's squat PB - and Olly was a lifter who I looked up to and was lucky to receive a lot of advice from in the early days. Sadly he would later surpass my PB before retiring, albeit in questionable circumstances with no-one watching.

That's my story! Thanks to those present on the night; Boar, Ironback, Rick and Olly, who all gave excellent encouragement.

Interesting exercise, but we're after your own lifts Danny! Please see my story above as a little example. Cheers!

My first ever 300kg deadlift is probably my favourite lift ever.

I remember when I first started competing in strongman I saw a 300kg deadlift as both a massive milestone and an almost incomprehensible weight of the type only done by the big guys you see on the telly.

I went on to deadlift more after this lift but this is the one that I remember as it was such a big milestone and I had to work so hard for it.

(Skip to about the 35 second mark)

Thanks! The others did say I was good for more, but the 400 took a lot out of me mentally, so I called it quits with the competition only a few weeks away. Sadly I would never go higher than that.

Not "lifting" anymore, but maybe one day! Cool

Its pretty easy for me to choose my best lift :

I started training in about 2004 , made it to a 160kg Deadlift in my shed and then went to various (pre sugden) forums and read about these amazing 200+ deadlifts

When the OSG push and pull came around in 2011 I had competed in many strongman and powerlifting competitions, even being lucky enough to win some , but I had never lifted the holy grail of deadlifting ...no , not 400kg ..... but 600lb !!!

The 2011 OSG Push and pull was a perfect competition for me ... I won the log rep challenge ... nailed a 140kg floor to overhead then finished off a fabulous day with a 600lb Pull ... a hug from Kev and legendary Martin calling my lift on the mic made this MY FAVOURITE LIFT Always and forever x

and thx for calling me brilliant rob.

140kg paused bench at 90kg BW (about 7 years ago). A massive milestone for me and a big lift by normal gym standards. The first time in my life I actually felt strong. There was another rep there too. Felt amazing - like I could press the world!

Loosely you could call this a competition.

Was about 15 years and I was working on the Ensco 80 drilling jack-up off the coast of Gt Yarmouth.
One of my fellow work mates had been telling the drill crew of my lifting powers Grin which came down to me being bullied into lifting one of the crew above my napper. Being the shy type a tried to avoid the task for as long as possible and even played the safety card but by now all the supervisors were involved and stopped the job till I performed.

With no warm-ups the smallest roughneck was provided to me, he must of been around the 70kg mark.
Much to everyone's amusement (apart from the to be lifted) I gathered his boiler suit together around the crotch area and applied my best grip then mostly fuelled by adrenaline I managed to lock the guy out above my head with one arm.
The guy was safely put back down to the acknowledge of the cheering crowd and I wasn't pestered too much after that Happy .

170kg at about 102kg IIRC. This was a personal best for me, and still is. Still really happy with this a couple years on. Oh and watch it with the sound on.

In some ways I was very happy with this 300kg squat (single ply) at 106kg.

Following 6 months off squats and deadlift with back injury and being told to not expect to be able to lift heavy without pain - I hit this shakey PB in week 5 of training!

Technically awful but seems a nice manly round number Happy

My entry is another deadlift milestone, the 300kg.

I had been fighting to increase my deadlift for a long time but little did I know my undiagnosed sleep apnoea was holding me back and massively hindering my performance and recovery.

Once I started getting proper sleep my strength rocketed and with a conscious effort to keep the calories right and supplementation dialed within a couple of months I was knocking on the door of 300kg and although it may look like 'just another deadlift' I cannot begin to describe how happy this made me, 300kg had always been a dream for me and now it was reality!

Hoping for 320kg by end of the year Grin
