Bugger me, that is some sickening yoke volume! How do your shins and core stand up to that sort of abuse?

Jonathan - I find I can hit the yoke pretty hard without getting to many repercussions. My joints actually suffer more doing farmers than yoke for some reason. Maybe because im more flat footed on yoke than I am with farmers I dont know. I always train over grass too which I imagine is alot kinder to the joints than concrete!

Joni - My yoke is ok for weight but im pretty damn slow so dont expect me to tear up the course at the comp! Im just aiming to complete it with no drops and hopefully thatll get a half decent placing.

As far as my weaknesses go I think deadlift and stones are probably my worst. The deadlift is my own fault for not training it enough. I have always favoured squat over dl but thats something that going to have to change.......after ive got my first 200kg squat! Eek

The stones ive only done once (at severn valley) and I was rubbish to be honest. Ive no doubt that when I get some stones to train on (xmas hopefully)thatll improve massively though.

I want to get some stones and maybe one of those new sled things tom has designed and I think ill have all the bases covered as far as event training is concerned. Its just a question of practice and getting stronger ready to hit the 105s next year! easy! Eek

2" Axle clean and press (continental):

70kg x 3
80kg x 2
90kg x 1
100kg 3 x 2 (double overhand)
100kg 3 x 2 (mixed grip)

2" Axle push press (from the rack):

80kg x 4
90kg x 2
100kg x 4

Log rows:

90kg x 4
100kg 2 x 10

Need to work on my conditioning for the axle at the comp. The weight feels light but even 2 reps had me blowing hard. I think part of it is not breathing at the right times so I get short of air. Got a couple more sessions to work on it (I think?) so im not too worried. At the moment the minimum requirement is 4 reps but ill see how I go. I hope ill be good for some more!

Training looking solid man. Yoke is out of control, and pressing strong too. Should be a good comp for you. I think your dead is not as weak as you think, and stones might be if you've only nailed them once before, but one out of 6 is ok. Should be on for a decent placing!

'Happy' with all events really, but will be touch and go whether or not I get a rep with the axel. Deadlift is weak, but at least I can make a pull at something, maybe 220. Yoke is ok, should nail about 5m I think. Frame - who knows, again, few metres probably. DB will be my best event probably, just coz I've trained it specifically, and stones are not too strong, but I will play the pussy card and nail 2 or 3 reps with the 117kg badboy. Field should be pretty varied though, so will be a nice day, and solid experience Happy

looking good mate. That 100kg push press looked easy so you should be good for a rep or 2 on the axle. looking forward to it!

180kg x 2 PB with more there!!! Cool
140kg x 8

Awesome session. Deadlifts felt pretty easy so im hopeful of getting 250 at the comp. Squats, well what can I say, first PB for bloody ages in squat and it was easy! Im sure I can beat my 190kg current PB and 200kg is tantalisingly close now. Training is going great right now Im just praying I can translate it into some competition form.

250 is a good target for the comp - it means i need to nail 260 or lose that event as well to you. The pressure!!!

200kg squat is a sweet milestone man, you thinking of nailing it before the comp?

Dont start counting any chickens yet big fella!

I think ill save the squat for after the comp. I guesstimate my max to be about 195 at the moment and I want to be sure of getting it before I try. Im certain itll be done before the year is out though!

Farmers pickups (belt):

90kg x 1
110kg x 1
120kg x 1
130kg x 1
140kg x 1 + 18sec hold.


Pretty good session. Im fairly confident Ill complete the yoke course at the comp with no drops. Im not going to worry about speed to much as ill end up dropping it. I might have a crack at 340 next week. Pleased with the 140 pickups. Hopefully thatll mean Ill be able to shift the frame for a few metres at least.

You'll have no problems with the frame Will, well at least not on the pickup! It's the walking with it that is the tricky bit!

lol I know you only asked me to do the comp so you could avenge your defeat at severn valley brian! Dont worry mate I have no doubt ill be fighting not to be bottom of the table anyway. My target for the comp (as always) is not to come last.
