yes mate. training for esm u80 in july. bit more relaxed about it than in the past tho.

pl has crossed my mind at various times but I think the training would bore me. its basically two of my least favourite (and weakest) strongman events combined with my least favourite pressing variation put together in one sport lol. id be more inclined to get invoved in wl but I get the impression its a bit of a closed shop if you arent involved in a club.

not bad. log, in particular, was strong. hit my six just outside my 60sec target but still plenty of time for a seventh in 75. didnt feel particularly gassed either.

yoke and farmers were so so. stones were brutal over the high bar.

brutal run through of the esm u80 events. adding in a heavy dead before everything else wrecked me. had some extra rest in the hope id be fresh for today but typically I woke up feeling more tight and creaky than usual. wanted a clean 240 pull but considering how my body felt just getting it up anyhow was ok. not where I wanted to be at this stage but it is what it is I guess.

log was hard after the pulls. hams had noticeably less power than usual plus I made a mess of rep 2 which knackered me. last rep was dodgy as. probably wouldnt have given it myself.

yoke wasnt so bad but the last 10m was very hard.

stones actually werent too bad. my biggest problem was that it was so hot that my tacky was slipping. considering that I was more than happy with three reps.

think im going to have to start deadlifting before events every week now to condition myself to it.

switching up the routine to incororate deads in my events session. will snatch and squat on wednesday. just going to keep it fairly easy in the week as events are going to be pretty brutal from now on.

pretty disastrous experiment with mixed grip deads. usually avoid them because they twist my back up. gave them a go but they twisted my back up lol. switched to straps for 230 but it was too late by then as my back was in 'delicate mode'. took it fairly easy for the rest of the session.

deadlift, as ever, is a mystery to me! sometimes it works, sometimes not..

yeah max dead at esm u80. suits and straps allowed.

had to squeeze my events session in quickly yesterday. log was ok although I had to start using leg drive earlier than planned. yoke was solid enough. really wanted to have a blast on the 110 stone but didnt have time to tacky up so just hit the 80 for reps again.
