The bird on the platform opposite me was this pretty wee 17 year old Olympic lifter who on Tuesdays distracts me on a regular basis by straight leg deadlifting in low cut training tops.Unfortunately, the underwear on my arse was a ragtag old pair from the days of the dinosaurs. I'm upset to declare that even with my robust and stout beard on display, she would have felt fear on a whole new level had she seen my grotty undercrackers peering out at her from between the lips of my shredded trouser seam.

As of that day, I've made sure to wear flattering smallclothes (or maybe not small going by the size of my buttocks.) as to woo the ladies if such an accident were to occur once more.

I'm more of a skinnyfatboy with a big bum just now, but one day if I do become more beastlike in appearance, I may feel able to pursue the ladies in any attire. Hopefully with great success.

I've got it worse (no one up manship here obviously). We have a cheer leading class on many Wednesday nights. It's clear that no weight lifting is possible at this time.

I wish! She'd knock my block off!

As for the cheerleading team. It must be f**king chronic for concentration levels on heavy sets. My squat isn't exactly a world beater, but when she's lifting opposite me a set of 5 becomes a set of 3.Concentration becomes nothing more than a made up word.
Is anyone else the same or is it just I who have this particular mental weakness.

I fully agree with you. Regardless of your 17 year old, you still train in a proper weight lifting gym.

My main training is at an LA Fitness so the majority there are working to firm up abs, lose that two to three pounds or maintain their blessed physique. I just don't have any concentration and do sets in between losing vision lines lol!

Do you train at the LA Fitness in Glasgow?
A lad I went through school with trains there, though I believe he only really trains bench and for the aesthetic purposes at that.

I dunno. Maybe we should set a new trend of training whilst facing walls.
I must admit though, even with the Tuesday distraction the palace is fantastic. The coaching has been brilliant and they hoof my arse into gear when I need it just like I asked.

I train at the one in Milngavie but as you say the majority are into aesthetics. Admittedly my training partner is prone to beach muscle training but I refuse to talk to acknowledge him when he mentions concentration curls.

I've started training at Marinecraft once a week and had a few sessions with Andy "robocop" Cairney and Ken "BigKen" Nowicki off of here. That's what really has started getting me in gear.

I had to train at fitness first over summer, it was painful. Full of "bodybuilders" with their 60kg decline bench and concnetration curls, and middle age women doing light cardio. I got wierd looks from everyone apart from one guy while deadlifting, it was pathetic. I was half expecting to get kicked out for using chalk... Luckilly the one i was training in the weights section was a fair bit away from the treadmills so i didnt have the concentration problems, and by the looks of 99% of the women that train there there wouldnt be that issue anyway!

Yea I must admit that the whole shiny gym thing pisses me off bigtime. But hey, when you're a hand model I guess you gotta wear those little glovies and stay away from things like chalk and knurled bars that may dry out your little handies.

I also was never comfortable in those types of gyms (Especially in the shower) for a very good reason. I remember once when I was a bit younger, a guy Tosh who I worked with and who was a really strong dude, refused to believe that these types of gyms were largely homosexual pick up joints. It was peak time and I was working with possibly the best looking girl I've ever known in my life, Fiona. She was pretty much everything that you could ask for in a girl, a real head turner. Now I on the other hand... I'm one ugly lookin' motherf**ker and I have been since the day those bas***d doctors they dragged me kicking and screaming out into the world. So, I asked Fiona a favour. I asked her to walk up and down one side of the gym whilst I walked up and back down the other. I asked Tosh to look where all of the male eyes in the room were pointing as we did this. We walked up, and then we walked back down again.
Tosh was laughing. He'd finally seen that even though probably the best looking girl in this country was walking up the left hand side of the gym with shorts shorter than a pair of short shorts, short shorts, most of the male eyes embedded in the clients well groomed and tanned heads were locked tightly to the right, greedy eyes on my admittedly scrumptious heinie. I always kept this masterpiece of gluteal evolution tucked safely away within the confines of my anal chastity belt (just kidding), my xxl scanteroonies and my 3 ply jogging bottoms. Still, it was as if some major had called "EYES RIGHT" on national obedient soldiers day.

From then on, my pal Tosh showered in the disabled cubicle. I still showered alone in the disabled cubicle with the lock firmly shut.

LOL!

Hilarious. I'm not bothered by that fact unless it turns into a Shawshank Redemption moment; then I'll be really scared.

Being the ugliest, hairiest, loudest and most obnoxious person in my gym, I'm not too well received by some. But the conclusion I've come to is that I just don't give a fcuk. I'll happily perv at woman, touch the Personal Trainer's ass when he's working with his clients, tell staff they're homos, drop weights (yes it's not allowed at my gym) and walk into the sauna with my fat ass and gut hanging out looking as if I'm wearing a sweater.

You need to make your way along to the palace!

You can drop weights, chalk up and burp if you need to. Plus, the door's always kept open for if you need to be sick or simply grab fresh air between sets.

In other news. The first of my goodies arrived today. My 10lb bag of whey. It looks a lot like a bag of cement.

Good times, people!

Saturday November 7th 2009

I was still ill today in that I felt weak and tired. My asthma was playing up big time too but training twice a week is pretty much all that I look forward to, so I wasn't missing another session.

Deadlift:

I'm much enjoying my new warmup routine. I start at roughly 50% of my working weight and do two sets of 8. Then I bump the weight up by ten kilos a pop, doing 3s at each weight until I reach my working weight. For some reason when I do it like this, my technique stays tighter. I also feel less strain on my sacrum and much warmer in the muscles.

135/2:8

Bench: (Speedbench)

I've been adjusting my technique for a couple of weeks now. Arching better, pulling my shoulderblades closer together whilst flaring my lats, pulling my elbows tighter, breathing better and decreasing the distance I push the bar by rotating my elbows better and keeping my shoulderblades pulled together at the top of the movement.

65/3:8

I then executed a single.

100/1:1

T-Bar Row (Wide grip)

60/8:2

65/7:1

We then went on and had a little fun.
We watched the video on the training videos section with the two 20 plates getting pinch lifted. We decided to try this too. I managed the 2 ten plates no problem and almost managed the 2 15kg plates once. The other guys managed the 2 15kg plates with chalk but we all bombed out on the 2 20kg plates. Holy s**t that ain't easy!
I've got wee lassies hands, so I reckon I'm gonna keep working at it each week to see if I can manage the 2 20kg plates eventually.
It's a new challenge.

After training was the post workout Saturday Maccy d's trip where my body enveloped a large Big Mac meal with coke and a free cheeseburger which I always enjoy the most being a cheap jock c**t and all. We then had to battle on back to Glasgow in the rain as the underground was stapped full of people looking to partake in some spousal abuse upon return from the football match at Ibrox Stadium. I didn't enjoy that part so much as I've never enjoyed crowds, never mind football crowds.
The train home from Glasgow central was decent with some ultra lightweight but surprising large breasted bootie (yes, bootie!) on display right across from my now rather fortunate arse. Given that it's November, you gotta wonder how some girls can walk around in as little as they do. I'm not complaining mind, just curious.

Roll on Tuesday which is squat day! I'm also gonna be seeking a 105 bench from fresh. 2 singles in a week :/ . o O (The f**k am I thinking?)
