Member 1227, 152 posts | I dont like how the stones are on such high platforms, they should lower them or get rid of it altogther. It used to be exciting when they just had it in the final but its used way too much and I find it quite boring to watch now tbh. | ||

Whaaat? Stones, boring? TBH I agree with the height thing though. With how strong these guys are now, I'd just have a 52-56" flatbed, with 5 stones from say 150 170 190 200 210-220 | ||

Red Bull is banned in netball Member 799, 1484 posts | Not all events at WSM suit the big lads, its just they can overcome it by being super strong. A lot of deadlift/car hold/squat events favour the less than 6'5" guys, as with pressing in general. People forget that and just focus on the height. Both Z and Pudz were under 6ft 5" and they have dominated it for years. Not long back people were saying the perfect height and weight for a strongman is 6ft 2" and about 22 stone. The stone platforms are fine, as a short guy who is good at pressing can do it no prob. Also, as Ken demonstrated at UK's you can get boots with MEGA soles to add an inch or 2. | ||

So your saying that Karl Grant and me will deadlift the same and he doesnt have advantage as he has to pull it less distance so can do more reps in the time? Maybe give you the hold, but then the taller guys have further to lift to start with. Same with pressing (in general) Stones are one are the few events that height really helps. | ||

If he was short, with short limbs, he may have exactly the same distance to pull it! 5ft 5" guys has 25" arm....has to pull bar 40" 6ft 6 guys has 38" arm...has to pull bar 40" hence why I said its all down to limb length (well I said lever, but meant limb  ) | ||

Some events suit the tall guys, some the short guys. Nowadays, you have to be super strong to overcome any disadvantege whilst still making the best of any advantage. | ||
