awesome stuff tom, especially consdiering u were ill that week, powerlifting comp make you feel rough as f**k even when your not ill! lol

I've got the ball rolling again with sprinting, been seeing a physio who's assessed me and given me a flexibility program. As it stands right now, I'm in no shape to start sprinting, he wants me to do some flexibility work for a couple weeks then reassess everything. Seems as I've always pulled/tore hamstrings sprinting I'm going to listen to him and make sure I'm ready before I get back into it lol. I think some flexibility would help me squat as well to be honest.

Wednesday

box squats

warm up, 3x5 100kg
deadlift, 5 x 100kg
close grip bench press - 105kg x5

nice easy session after my comp


Friday

Had a good bench session today

bar x 5
60kg x 5
100kg x 5

shirt on

120kg x 3 ( 3 board )
140kg x 1 couldn't touch

pulled shirt on a bit further up the arms

140kg x 1 illegal low touch

pulled on a touch more

140kg x 2 first one a struggle, 2nd one got down easy
140kg x 4

Wanted 140 for 3 reps, took a lot of messing about before the shirt would let me get down comfortably. Was happy to finally attempt it on the last set, had a 4th rep in me so went for it.

Squats

bar x 5
60kg x 5
100kg x 5
140kg x 5
180kg x 2

equipment on

200kg x 5

The weight was light enough and all the reps were easy, but christ, I am so unfit, I was completely winded after this, lactic acid everywhere. Guess I've not been doing many reps recently, but reps will be the order of many a day to come. I did too many weeks of singles before my comp. My best squats came the week after doing 220kg x 4. I'm gunna try hold off the singles as long as I can in the upcoming weeks and work towards improving my 5 rep max.

what kind of flexibility exercises has he got you doing tom? My flexibility is undescribedly bad lol.

They're described as

1. Lower Back and Glute Stretch
2. Piriformis Stretch
3. Glute Medius Stretch
4. Hip Flexor Stretch
5. Hamstring Stretch
6. Double Leg Nerve Stretch
7. Single Leg Nerve Stretch

My CNS is 'unbelievable tight', hamstrings, hip flexors and glutes are just 'really tight'

Also my right glute medius is far too weak for some reason, so he's given me some exercises to bring that up a bit. Sprinters CAN'T have a weak right glute especially if they have to run a bend

It is incumbent on every lifter to do some platform work now and again, imo (and sad how few actually live up to their responsibilities in this matter). You did f**king well - no misloads afaik, efficiently loaded, and you caught missed lifts promptly but not too promptly.

And, as you noted, it's a s**tload harder than lifting!

I'm happy to help out when I can, jim and bryn give up a s**t load of time helping me out it's the least I can give back. I do regret not entering though thinking I should take an easy day off! remind me to bring my belt and knee wraps next time!

I was a bit worried when I found out Id be spotting as well, put it this way, if I was competing I wouldn't want someone who's never done it before jeapordising my lifts AND my safety, so thanks, it's good to know I was doing it right!
