I'm using a method of lifting given to me from a member of here, but I have a question about Sheiko.

Ok, so on Sheiko "37" the workload is 10 sets of bench press (each with their own percentage accordingly) then it goes to squat for 5 sets and then BACK to bench.

Does anyone know why the programming is done that way? Is it important? Surely having a bar loaded up with weights, taking it all off, squatting and then reloading back for bench is a bit silly, or is it?

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but there must be a reason why it's written like that?

:-)

Not really looked at sheiko before but i imagine its because there is a lot of volume and spreading it out that way will allow you to hit the prescribed percentages without failing or the speed of the lifting slowing down too much.

Your upperbody gets a bit of a rest before doing more sets.

E.g. if you did 5x5@80% the 5th rep of the 5th set you may only just get that rep and then each set after that you would probably end up dropping down due to fatigue, say 77% 75% 72% 70% 67%.

If you squatted and then came back and then did the second lot of 5x5 you would probaly manage like 75% 5x5 so the overall intensity would remain higher.

I think it is because the workload was intended to be spread over two sessions in the day.

I had the pleasure of his company for 3 days and picked his brains no end. The workouts in the book "Powerlifting" are examples. I wish to sit down later this year and translate all the sample workouts into English, but these can of course be used for myself and not published online. Each routine he writes changes for different athletes, and micro, meso, and macrocycles are all interlinked. 28, 35 etc. are examples translated from the above book. I want to translate all of them.

Advanced athletes train 8 times a week, with AM and PM sessions, of varying intensity.

Intermediate lifters' routines are also different, and the routines are written out according to their competition dates. Also, they don't max out at all comps.

I've got some top secret slides and trying to get a signed copy of his book. I wanted to translate it all into English, but finds wouldn't let me but the rights without a monumental gamble of finances.

I've probably got the answers in the aforementioned slides, which i can access if my PC didn't get damaged in transit. I'll be able to answer your question in September if you remind me.

Yeah, the split just gives you a break, enabling you to get in more high quality volume than if you did it straight.

Funky, mind sharing what "monumental" means in this case? I'm sure there's a market for it.

There is indeed a market, but it's too big a risk. Same cost as flying him over for the seminars and less per "sale". Besides, once I've paid and spent a year translating, what's to stop people from copying it all and using it as an e-book and sending a copy to all their mates?
