My next comp is 8 weeks away, one of the events is 220kg dead for reps. Was thinking about using something like the following to prepare for it..

Week 1: 175kg - 6x3
Week 2: 187.5kg - 7x2
Week 3: 198.5 - 7x1
Week 4: 180kg - 6x3
Week 5: 192.5kg - 7x2
Week 6: 210 - 7x1
Week 7: Attempt comp weights x reps
Week 8: Off / light deads

Does this look ok? Any suggestions/changes would be great.

this would help, looking at your 225 max, i guess you are maybe aiming for 2 reps?

Aiming for 3 on the day.

Anything over that would be nice / crackpipe.

i would build up to it as a max triple

180 -3x5
190x5
200-3x3
210x3

190-3x5
200x5
210-3x3
220x3

something like that

It's almost a 1RM. I'd aim for 1 first, and I'd reflect this in your training. No need for cardio mate.

I just train as normal (which doesn't involve much dead lifting really) and see what I can do on the day!!

I was just using the Prilepin chart in my original post, but I see your point mate.

I've got something similar in an upcoming comp too. Just trying to build 1RM stength with a back off set or too after my heavy sets.

first rule, DO NOT GET 0 POINTS!

own that 220 mate - what stage is the deadlift event? As in how many events before it?

You dont have to train for the triple, if you feel good, you can carry on and use the time for more reps.

But you have to be sure that you can pull that 220 any time its needed.

id work the time limit into your training. being as youll only be doing 2-3 reps the pace you lift at will be important. so say do multiple triples with the weight range 190-210 in a 75sec (or whatever itll be on the day) time limit.

Good point.
I thought it was 2nd (after farmers), but turns out its 4th after...

1.110kg Farmers for 40m (have to go around barrel at 20m point,90 secs cut off time)
2.100kg Log for reps in 90secs (from floor to overhead)
3.300kg Super Yoke for 20m (in quickest time,90 secs cut off time)

So yeah, fatigue is going to play a part.

Yeah I have been factoring the time limit (75 secs) into my training, cheers Will.

Was thinking of this the same today mate.

Ive got a 240kg deadlift for reps coming up.

I hit 3 today.

How would you guys train the event in the lead up to the comp to get max reps? I know some other guys are in a similar position, Joni?
