My routine goes: Week 1 5 x 5 Week 2 5 x 3 Week 3 5 x 1 Repeat If I get all of the reps then I move up a weight. e.g. I did deads last Thursday and the plan was 5 singles at 210 which I got so when singles come round again in 3 weeks it's 215. This Thursday the plan for deads is 5 x 5 at 165, if I get them I move onto 170, if not I stay at 165 until I do. Also I stagger the reps for the lifts through the week e.g. this week will be Monday Squat 5 x 3, Tuesday Bench 5 x 1, Thursday Deads 5x x5. | ||

Doing something similar myself, interesting that you don't stress about missing a rep or reps and just keep the weight the same until you get all the reps next week or the week after. | ||

It's balanced (I'm weird like that, numbers need to add up etc). It's varied which keeps it interesting. I get to lift close to my 1 rep max on one of the lifts every week. Will you be doing the South Yorkshire in May? | ||
